WELCOME FROM TIM ADAMS Director of Marketing & Corporate Sales As we step into a new decade, there is no doubt that health and wellbeing are becoming increasingly important. It is key that we continue to take strides in understanding the different aspects and challenges of the communities in which we operate, and where we are able, supporting each of these communities through our knowledge, expertise and resource. The √ Self was an initiative conceived within a branch of our sustainability strategy called “Engaging our Communities.” Through this, we aim to work closely with partners, customers and suppliers to leverage our collective skills and experience to make a real difference at a community level. In considering the various areas where we could use our influence, we quickly recognised that there was an opportunity to play a key role in supporting those attending university. We all know that the university sector is facing a mental health crisis. With this surge in anxiety and stress, we want to help equip our customers with tools they can use to look after their students and in turn, create a positive and well-nourished community. This is what the √ Self looks to achieve. It’s all about getting to the root of student wellbeing, by understanding all the elements of student life. Using TUCO’s research on the Hospitable Campus, the advice of an award-winning nutritional therapist, recipes created by our expert chef development team and supporting the fantastic work by Time to Change, we hope that this guide will help our customers create wellbeing spaces that truly engage and support their communities.
